Altidore missed chance to train with Manchester United
As I have written before, Red Bulls rookie sensation Josmer Altidore was set to train with an undisclosed European club after the MLS season before a broken thumb scrapped those plans. Nobody wanted to tell me which club that was but I finally unearthed the information. Altidore was going to train with Manchester United. It is unclear whether Altidore would have been there at the same time as Freddy Adu but it seems likely.
What does this mean exactly? Nothing really. Much like Adu's visit, it would have been just a training session. That's all Adu's trip to Manchester was before the British media circus spun it into a trial. 'It would have been a great opportunity for Altidore but it wasn't meant to be. How did the opportunity come about? If I had to guess I would say Bruce Arena had a hand in it, since he worked with Sir Alex Ferguson during his time as US coach.
As a Revolution fan, the sooner Altidore goes to Europe the better!

Once Jozy's thumb heals, wouldn't it be possible for him to train with Manchester or some other team? Is there some time frame for trials that he has missed due to injury or can a trial happen at any time?

Could it be that Glazers want to sign an American for ManUtd?
Yeah, I didn't forget about Tim Howard :)
