Mike Magee has torn MCL, will miss up to three months
Red Bulls forward/midfielder Mike Magee is expected to be out until early May after an MRI on Tuesday revealed a torn MCL in Magee's right knee. He suffered the injury last August but the injury was not discovered until Tuesday's examination. Magee is set to have surgery on Monday that will sideline him for three months.
Magee will become the fifth player to have surgery this off-season. Tim Regan (hip surgery), Taylor Graham (knee surgery), Josmer Altidore (Hand surgery) and Marvell Wynne (hand surgery) have all gone under the knife. Magee's injury reduces an already thin pool of forward options on the Red Bulls. The club now has Josmer Altidore, John Wolyniec, Dave Van Den Bergh, Jerrod Laventure and rookie Randi Patterson as forward options with a little more than two months to go before the season begins.
How can that happen?
The team doctors should be fired!

Too bad that couldn't have been identified five months ago. He would have already recovered!!!

Haven't most people already given up on Mike Magee anyway? I reluctantly have. I never saw him being in the mix for the starting XI for NY this year.

I was surprised we let a class act like O'Rourke exposed in the expansion draft and protected Magee. I could only believe that Arena thought Magee had more trade value but Arena continues to hold onto Magee and look at where he's out now. :(
