Red Bulls trade Nick Rimando back to RSL

NickrimandoSo much for the Red Bulls' goalkeeping glut. Bruce Arena revealed today that the club has dealt away Nick Rimando. Arena would not reveal the team the Red Bulls sent him to but a source has confirmed that the team is Real Salt Lake. The trade isn't official yet but it's just a matter of paperwork being filed at this point.

The deal means Jon Conway is going to stay put. So much for his potential deal to Toronto.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Tell me we're gaining something from this. We're not just getting back what we gave them in the first place are we??

Yeah, if we send him back for "Future Considerations" I'm going to be sick.... just because the RSL front office isn't too bright shouldn't mean we can't take advantage of them.

If we traded him back for the same thing we gave them then we'd be stupider than they are. I just can't believe Bruce would allow something that moronic to happen.

I am happy that Mr. Pants was kept and not Rimand-Oh! It would send a bad signal to the team if they got rid of the man who arguably saved RBNY's collective asses last year ...but I am not sure what we will get in exchange either...maybe more cap room for the DP signing?

The whole future considerations thing is starnge to me. What could RSL possibly acquire that we would want?

DC fans are very happy that nicky has escaped Red Bull land...

Having said that I hope that NY fleeced RSL for their stupidity....what a train wreck (RSL..not NY..I can see how one would confuse the two)

future considerations is the code word for "4th round supplemental draft pick" (basically the 8th round overall).
