Red Bulls 2, Chivas USA 2 (updated)
A 71st minute goal from Jozy Altidore helped the Red Bulls salvage a 2-2 tie against Chivas USA on Wednesday. Todd Dunivant scored the team's first goal in the 53rd minute off a Claudio Reyna corner. A Chivas trialist scored their first goal and Matt Taylor scored the second in the 68th minute.
Altidore's goal came courtesy of a good run down the right by Wynne, who sent a low cross into the box. Altidore beat his defender to the near post and tapped in from close range.
An interesting lineup for the match, Here it is:
------------Altidore------------
Van Den Bergh----------Richards
--------Reyna---Kovalenko----
------------Stammler----------
Denton---------------------Wynne
--------Graham--Dunivant-------
-------------Conway--------------
Here's the word from my guy in Cali=
Solid games all around although the defense could have been a little tighter. Denton didn't do much to stand out.
Altidore was solid, as was Reyna.
A very interesting change in the second half saw Wolyniec come in for Denton, Dunivant moved to left back, Stammler moved to center back and the squad switched to a 4-4-2. Stammler apparently looked very good at center back. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this were the opening day starting lineup, though the popular one (with Parke and Mendes centrally, Dunivant at left back and Altidore up top in a 4-5-1) is still the favorite.
As for everyone's favorite Honduran, Amado Guevara didn't do much to stand out. He was solid, but not spectacular. Again, this is preseason. The fact that he is actually WITH his team is progress, isn't it?
Woly as a center back...woah!
LOL Ives about your Amado comment...

I hope this is something we'll be reading regularly this season!

I agree krelmatrix...seems like most of our goals are coming from crosses..Duni's goal came courtesy of of a Reyna corner...
Also I meant to say in my previous post that Woly was moved to left back not center ... Is Bruce doing an Albright or Sanneh w/ John?

No, it seems like Woly was up top with Jozy in the 4-4-2 with Graham and Stammler in central defense. Stammler may well be the best option in central defense at this point. I would much prefer the 4-4-2 (Dunivant, Parke/Mendes, Stammler, Wynne; VDB, Reyna, Kovalenko, Schopp/Richards; Woly, Jozy) to the 4-5-1 with Jozy alone up top and Parke and Mendes together in central defense.

Yes you are correct Wamiq... Woly was moved up front... my mistake..

Wait a second. Everyone on Big Soccer keeps saying Wynne can't cross the ball! I'm confused!
