Red Bulls bring in Chris Leitch, part ways with Craig Capano
The Red Bulls have added a familiar face to the fold in California, bringing in former MetroStar Chris Leitch and saying farewell to oft-injured midfielder Craig Capano.
Leitch, who was recently waived by the Columbus Crew, should give the Red Bulls a good option as a reserve fullback, which could spell bad news for either Tim Regan or Eric Denton. Regan has been recovering from off-season hip surgery. Leitch is also very familiar with the Red Bulls centerback tandem of Carlos Mendes and Jeff Parke, having played with them before.
Capano's departure doesn't come as too much of a surprise. He was mildly impressive during his stint in Florida but constant injuries coupled with the team's considerable depth in central midfield made him expendable.
I was never a big fan of Chris Leitch or Tim Reagan. They both hustled for sure but their crossing and passing was poor at best when they were w/ the Metros...

Both Leitch and Regan would be great cover for the team. Leitch can play multiple positions so that is a plus.
Regan was effective as a central or outside back his time here, the only time he struggled was when he was played out of position in the defensive midfield. And lets not forget he started 30 games last year alongside Claudio Suarez for a playoff team. If Bradley and Arena see his worth Im sure they arent wrong.

It would be really shocking if we cut Regan for Lietch

I agree with AG, I think they're both mediocre. Adequate cover, I suppose. Man, I really wish we had someone stronger in central defense...

FINALLY, some banter on here!
I will say, not being a hater or a supporter of all things RBNY, I'm going to have to support fiddle245 on this one...MV, fiddle has you by the gonads (think Vinny Jones and the infamous pic)
Ives, do you see what your blog has come to? We have resorted to personal attacks on one another bc there have been no discussionary type posts on here for a while. Where's the good old Ives?!

Ives: can we do something about trolling? I like the option to discuss soccer with other passionate fans, but some people seem to be more interested in channeling their personal anger through aggravating others. I think I speak for many.

I'm working on that Nic. I've tried to block certain folks from posting on here but it hasn't worked. Hopefully it will in the future.

During the time we were browsing in the gift shop, I noticed that among the toys for sale were golliwogs of various sizes, in various colourful outfits. Given their notoriety as racist, unacceptable and politically incorrect toys from the past, I was very surprised to see them. Their tags identified them as“ gollies”, but no matter what they were labeled as, they were definitely recognisably golliwogs. Growing up I used to read lots of Enid Blyton stories which featured golliwog characters, who were often up...
