Get ready to wait even LONGER for U.S. Copa America roster
So I'm camped out, waiting for the word on the US Copa America roster only to get word a few minutes ago that the roster won't be released until 4pm Eastern Time. ARGHHH.
What's the hold up? I wish I knew.
More time for Landon to rehearse Hamlet's "To Be Or Not To Be" soliloquy?

Geez, what's taking so long? They have already submitted it, why not release it? I hope your take on the roster is right on Ives! That seems like a strong squad despite missing some key players

I will be furious if we take Ben Olsen type players. If we are not aiming to do well in the tournament, we should at least take playrs that could be a factor in 2010. Otherwise its a waste of a non-friendly enviroment.
I honestly would be furious if Ben Olsen, Namoff types go.

So would DCU fans.

God help us against that roster of Argentina's. With the potential roster that everyone is expecting from Bob Bradley, they might put 5 or more on us.

Seems it would be a total waste to take aging or outclassed players like Olsen & Namoff. At the very least we should take an u-23 nucleus and add some senior players along with some u-20 or u-17 guys that were on the cusp but didn't get selected for the u-20 tournament. If we're not out to try to get real wins in the Copa, we should at least be getting some guys valuable playing time.

You've got to be joking, you want a Copa roster with players who weren't good enough to make the U-20 squad? That would ensure back-to-back-to-back losses in the range of 5-0 and what could anyone possibly learn from that type of drubbing. In fact it would make the tournament a negative in terms of player development due to the loss in confidence of the young players you so desperately want to develop. In order to develop the younger players you have to sprinkle in some veterans who will calm the team down. This is where Olsen comes into play. In addition the complete destruction of the national team by teams other than Argentina will set MLS back. Finally by showing such a lack of respect for the tournament do you think CONMEBOL would ever invite us back?

I really hope that the us brings the A squad to Copa America. i think that with the talent we currently have in the roster we should have a good tournament and not for nothing if we win the Gold Cup great another one for for the trophy case but if we have a good Copa America(really want to say win ) it will be a monumental moment for US soccer.

Argentina looks unstoppable. Can't be said enough. That roster is frightening. So is ours.

Goff, at soccer insider, is reporting Boswell and Olsen have been named to the team.

Is this amateur night at US soccer? Publish the roster already!
Actually, if it's the same as the one posted on Deadspin do us all a favor and don't post it. Just stick a Donovan jersey on Gaven and at least I can pretend that we're taking a major international tournament seriously!

Corroborates Deadspin rumor.

wow i hope that roster is wrong. maybe us soccer looked at argentina's roster, crapped themselves, and are trying to add better players :)
Posted by: chris | June 22, 2007 at 03:05 PM
Maybe the hold up is that after seeing Argentina's squad, the the USSF has decided it does not want to get embarrassed and is renogiating with club teams so that they can get more players available.

Wow that US roster doesn't have Donovan its like we are saying we don't care about winning:-(! They picked Eddie Gaven are you serious!
