Seitz out for tonight's match (US lineup vs. Uruguay)
(An SBI exclusive for about the next 10 minutes)-Just got word that US Under-20 national team goalkeeper Chris Seitz will miss tonight's US Second round Under-20 World Cup match against Uruguay after picking up an injury in training. Brian Perk will start in his place. Here is tonight's starting lineup:
------------------Altidore---------------
Rogers------------Adu-----------Zizzo
-------------Bradley---Szetela--------
Wallace----Sturgis--Valentin---Beltran
--------------------Perk---------------------
Check back here for the running commentary on the match (Unless the storm in Jersey knocks out my DirecTV, which would be BAD.
um its showing seitz as a winger...u mean zizzo?

minor mistake, but i think you mean Zizzo on the right and not Seitz.
no Seitz SUCKS though...i wonder if he reaggravated his injury from the last game.

also, i wouldn't have minded seeing Sarkodie start again, but i guess Rongen prefers Valentin.

rats, you guys are quick. You could see him limping in the end vs. Brazil, and he wasn't taking the goal kicks because of it, so I kind of expected this.
I didn't expect to see him on the wing, though ;)

Everyone's a comedian. I love you guys. But admit it, wouldn't it be funny to see Seitz try to play right wing?

if that guy can stand on his vs Brazil, i'm sure right wing would be cake!

Hoping for more slick work on the wings from Zizzo again, especially against a suspect defense.

Does this mean Sturgis lost goal/free kick duties?
Posted by: Jeff | July 11, 2007 at 06:13 PM
He's got the height to be a factor on crosses. It would be fun to see him run at defenders though :)

originally i was disappointed to draw Uruguay because it was so unlikely before the rest of the groups finished playing, and really because we certainly could've drawn an easier team.
however, if we can't beat these guys in a "win or go home" game, then we don't deserve to win it all anyways..
time to take care of business!

Who is Perk? Is he any good.
Seitz was my pick for player of the last game. That boy was solid in goal.

New drinking game...every time Bradley takes a shot that is as weak as or weaker than that of the infamous Dane Richards...drink up!

does anyone here have comcast? do you know if ESPNU is on comcast?

I'm feeling hopeful that the US can pull this game out, though certainly less so than before I found out Seitz wasn't playing.
However, seeing how they responded after Brazil equalized, and Poland going up after 4 minutes, I don't think they'll have a let down after the last game.

Paul L.,
Brian Perk is a UCLA GK, not very big but is athletic, actually compared to Seitz, Perk is a munchkin. Perk is only 5-11, 175, but makes up for it in athleticism and positioning.
1.27 GAA in 7 games started last year at UCLA.

That sucks. Seitz has looked really good so far in this tournament.

Sorry to burst a bubble, but the CBC link probably won't work because of rights issues. I'd download the TVU player, it'll most likely be on it.
