Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho will lead Brazil when it takes on the US national team on Sept. 8th in Chicago.
Brazil announced its 23-man roster on Thursday and the squad is a full-strength team. Here it is:
GOALKEEPERS (2): Doni (Roma), Julio Cesar (Inter Milan)
DEFENDERS (8): Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Sevilla), Alex Silva (São Paulo), Lúcio (Bayern Munich), Juan (Roma), Alex (Chelsea), Kleber (Santos), Gilberto (Hertha Berlin),
MIDFIELDERS (8): Gilberto Silva (Arsenal), Mineiro (Hertha Berlin), Josué (VfL Wolfsburg), Fernando (Bordeaux), Elano (Manchester City), Kaká (AC Milan), Julio Baptista (Real Madrid), Diego (Werder Bremen)
FORWARDS (4): Ronaldinho (Barcelona), Robinho (Real Madrid), Vagner Love (CSKA Moscow), Afonso (SC Heerenveen)

We're gonna need a bigger boat...

No Ronaldo or Adriano? I'm a bit surprised they didn't get the call-up over Wagner Love.

I can't believe someone has already made an "No [insert names here]?" comment . . you must be kidding me, look at the roster. Open your eyes.
When has Ronaldo gotten a call up since the World Cup?

Hey Rocco, did you watch Copa America? Vagner Love was solid for Brazil. He may not be a household name but he's legit.

I want to watch the game on Univision so I can hear the Mexican announcers say, Wagner Loooooooooooove. That cracks me up.
I think any of those players are better than Ronaldo at this point and it's like bringing Reyna out for a friendly. He's not going to be playing in the next World Cup. Why bring him?
Bob Bradley... listen... this is just a shot in the dark. But I suggest you don't bring the Copa America roster. And I suggest you watch some game tape and bring your absolutely best players for this game. Or you're going to get douched on your home soil. Seriously. No Bornstein vs. Robinho. And please, oh please Lord. No Eddie Johnson or Onyewu.

4-0 Brazil

I agree with you Sublicon! It gets old hearing people complain about roster selections. This is a quality side that the U.S. is going to have a very difficult time with. I am very interested in seeing what side Bradley selects (and then the complaints will really flood in). 4-0 might be a conservative estimate. I wish I could make it to Chicago to see this one.

I think losing 2-0 would be a good result for the US.

I guess we can suspend complaining about those easy friendlies against off-seasan Scadanavian B-sides, small CONCACAF countries and weak Asian teams.

Brazil is totally beatable. They have off days. Look at the 2006 WC.

Algeria managed an 0-2 vs Brazil yesterday.
1-1 would be a good result, although I expect Brazil to win by at least 2 goals.

Who is the 23rd player???
Posted by: nutmegger | August 23, 2007 at 02:21 PM
It all depends on the side that Bradley selects!
Posted by: Chrisnj | August 23, 2007 at 02:23 PM
you know Onyewu and Bornstein will be there :(

Vagner Loooooooooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Love it.

By the way, when their worst players play for clubs your players would dream of playing for, you usually loose by a couple of goals.
Sounds crazy but I'm saying 5-3, Brazil. I think Brazil is going to put on an offensive show but forget to play any defense (make the home fans happy).
Jozy's getting two, baby!!

Onyewu haters - who do we put in the middle? Conrad? DeMerit?
Please no Ching or Johnson up top! Please give Jozy the call!! Call in Adu, too! For christ sake.

h4: of course brazil is beatable if they're bore to death playing against some lame players.
wc'06 they played like they don't care.

Yeah, I watched the CA and still wasn't impressed with Wagner Love. Besides, an "on the downhill" Ronaldo or even Adriano would be more entertaining and dangerous than Wagner Love. He may work harder than both, but Ronaldo and Adriano are still two of the most dangerous strikers out there.

Toothless, I support DeMerit for CB next to Bocanegra.

Actually, if the U.S. brings on a full strength side, it should be a good game. As a native Spanish speaker, I will defect and listen to ESPN 2 this time and not Univision. The commentator Bracamontes is very solid, but the play by play Jorge Ramirez is annoying, “Vanger...Loooooov.” Give me break. A couple of times is fine but not every single, single time. I just can’t take it. U.S.A 2-1 if the team is full strength. If not, Brazil 3-1 or 4-1
Posted by: John1 | August 23, 2007 at 04:22 PM
I mean, Pablo Ramirez
Posted by: John1 | August 23, 2007 at 04:26 PM
Anyone else see FC Dallas signed Denilson?!! Wow, they could be potent on the attack with Alvarez, Toja, Richetti, Ruiz, Cooper and Denilson going forward!!
Posted by: athan | August 23, 2007 at 04:28 PM
On paper, Brazil should dominate and score 4 or 5 unanswered goals.
In practice, it would be 3 to 0 if Brazil were playing Argentina. Since it's the US, it'll probably be Brazil 1 to 0.
No matter what, I'm jealous of anyone who will be able to watch this game in person.

We are going to get our butts kicked, but I'm going to watch on Univision so I can hear the announcers say: "Yonathan Boooooooooooooooooooornsteeein"
