Soccer Saturday
Good morning folks. Another busy weekend of European soccer action is upon us and you can check in here with your thoughts, observations, complaints and boasts.
Relieved to see Liverpool thrash Newcastle? Surprised at Bolton's performance against Man U? Happy to see Bayern Munich get back in the win column? Share your thoughts below:
DaMarcus Beasley plays the full 90 for Rangers, assisting on the first goal in their 3-1 win over Falkirk. DMB will be starting against Stuttgart on Tuesday in the Champions League on the right side of midfield.
Bobby Convey has assisted on Reading's equalizer against Manchester City, with a calm square ball to James Harper.
A good day for Left footed Americans in the UK so far.

Boro three goals down at home to Villa. Southgate will be the next to get the sack IMO. Hey, England needs a new manager! ;-))

Tim Howard watches Everton's 7-1 destruction of Sunderland. Roy Keane is not a happy man.

Looks like ManU is no longer atop Ives' top 10. Not a good result. No Ronaldo, no Rooney, but they should still have at least tied that one up.

Wow, already a six point gap between Arsenal and ManU and the Gunners still have a game in hand... I think this is Arsenal's season.

Count me as one of those "relieved to see Liverpool thrash Newcastle." If only I hadn't dropped Gerrard from fantasy a month ago.

Benny is on the bench for Derby. Maybe he'll get into this game sometime in the second half... after the score is 6 or 7 to nothing....

It seems like every week, there's a blowout int he EPL. This week, it came from an unlikely source -- Everton. Good for Timmy though!

It's pretty interesting (and almost entertaining) to hear English fans boo every single England squad playing today....
Posted by: MemRook | November 24, 2007 at 12:35 PM
i meant to say "boo every single England squad PLAYER playing today...."
Posted by: MemRook | November 24, 2007 at 12:36 PM
could you imagine mls fans booing US players after the world cup? didn't happen, of course.
the gap between the english perception of what they should do and what they truly are worth is astounding.

The yellow Chelsea kits are miserable! Even worse than my Eagles in Swedish blue and gold!

No Ronaldo, Rooney, or Vidic for ManU - and they played putrid in the first half. In ManU's defense, that is probably their 3 most important players out - essentially the same as if Arsenal were without Fabregas, Adebayor, and Gallas, with VanPersie coming off of a 24 hr flight back from S. America.
ManU will crush their next 2 opponents as they will have Rooney back and Ronaldo and Vidic as well. Fulham and Derby just don't stand a chance over the next two weeks.

Feilhaber makes an appearance for Derby in the 84th minute.

Feilhaber makes a sub appearance for Derby in the 82nd minute.
Posted by: YankatOxford | November 24, 2007 at 02:19 PM
Feilhaber has to be unhappy with this move from Germany. Not only is he not playing quality minutes, but he is going to be playing in the sub-MLS, sub-Jupiler, and definitely sub-Bundesliga English Championship soon. Does anyone know how long he is under contract to Derby? He needs to bolt.
Posted by: hoyanick | November 24, 2007 at 03:28 PM
Feilhaber is signed for 3 years, but at this rate I don't think that means a whole lot in regards to his ability to move on if he so desires.

Arsenal goes three points clear with a game in hand . ..
and Ives must regret putting ManU above them yet again.

Wow. I am very proud of my beloved Toffees today. :)
That's how you do it Everton!!

Love to see DMB back. When is he going to get a start on the right side for the MNT?!? I'll definitely be watching their CL match.
Looking forward to Fulham - Blackburn tomorrow. I've been catching up on CL highlights ahead of next week, and if Pippo Inzaghi can effectively hold up the ball in a pinch, Dempsey can figure it out too.
Nice Dempsey feature in the Guardian - http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2216352,00.html

Stoppage time. 3-1 Benfica.

Freddy's 5th goal in about 350 or so minutes for Benfica. Crazy strike rate. Way to go Freddy!

Ives, I love your blog man....but I don't think I can read it anymore if you continually end your entries with "Share your thoughts below." I think all of the SBI mafia get the system of posting comments by now. People post on Goff's and Jen Chang's blog without prompting; they will do the same for you. Just an honest request from a loyal reader. no offense.
