It's Q&A Time
(NO MORE QUESTIONS!! Thanks to those of you already submitted questions. Those of you who missed out. There is always the next one.)
Good afternoon folks. It is a SLOW news day today on the soccer front (for now) so it is probably a good time to have another Question and Answer session.
You know the routine by now. Ask me your soccer related questions (on topics from MLS to international soccer) and I will try to provide you with an answer. Try to keep them reasonably-sized and try to limit your questions to one or two. I will do my best to try and answer your questions, or at least find the answers. I will try to post the answers by Monday.
Let's have some fun. Ask away!
How would you rank the US Men say 1-20? If there was a superdraft who would go 1-20? Thanks love the blog.

thanks ives. Do you think Seitz or any other young keeper will be able to keep up the great keeping tradition that keller, friedel, howard and hanneman have established?

I'm going to be out of the country next November. What are the odds that I'm going to miss an appearance by RBNY in the MLS Cup Final?

1) Will Neven Subotic serve a significant role should the US qualify for the Olympics? And when will he get a call up for the senior team?
(I understand he was injured when called up for the game against Switzerland, but why was he ignored for South Africa? To my knowledge the Bosnia rumors have been squashed, so is Bradley just not impressed with him?)
2) What does Quentin Westberg's future look like for club and country?

I believe Osorio and the Red Bulls are still negotiating; nothing has been finalized yet.

Ives,
Has there been any word on the Red Bulls NY Balance sheet performance this year?
Posted by: Greg | December 13, 2007 at 03:01 PM
With Real Madrid playing in salt lake, any word on them or any other international teams coming to ny?

With the Mitchell Report such a dominant American sports story today in the news, what kind of drug testing is done in MLS?

Ives, if you were Juan Carlos Osorio (assuming he is named coach anytime soon) what would you want for Christmas? players, staff, Macy's gift card, or league rule changes, etc.
and if its not too much trouble, do you have any idea if the Red Bulls will have new jerseys next year? any chance of ever wearing another red home kit
thanks Ives

In the most recent "MLS Extra Time" episode on MLSNET, Shep Messing said of the Andriy Shevchenko to MLS rumors that he "has spoken directley to the parties involved and that they want it to happen, New York specifically." What have you been hearing about this possible blockbuster transfer? Although there is currently no DP slot open, I could see the league making an exception for a player of this magnitude.

It is being reported today that AC Milan will not renew Ronaldo's contract and that he is lining up a possible stateside move. New York and LA have been mentioned, what are you hearing about possible interest in Ronaldo from RBNY or other MLS clubs?

What are you hearing on Red Bull making its two possible signings from the youth academy this offseason? There has been alot of talk about Matt Kassel, Johnny X, and Walter Hines, what is the latest on this situation?
Posted by: lojo | December 13, 2007 at 03:16 PM
Do you see Harkes and Richie Williams saying with the club as Osorio's assistants, or will the whole staff be cleaned out?

Is Agoos still the front-runner for the technical director job? If not who is?

What one international player (from any country) do you think would improve today's USMNT the most? Not asking for best player, per se, just which player do you think would fit in the best with our team at a position we need.

What is the transfer fee for Troy Perkins, and how are allocations valued for such transfers?
Posted by: Haig | December 13, 2007 at 03:25 PM
1. What's a REALISTIC midfielder (preferably an offensive mid) that the Red Bulls can trade for without having losing certain players like Jozy, JPA, Richards, Dema, and Parke. So in other words, if you were the GM of RBNY, which midfielder do you trade for and how much would you give up (reasonably of course)?
2. You do know that when you say that you're gonna post your answers on Monday, that pretty much means that they wont be posted until Friday...? ;-)
3. Giuseppe Rossi is still available to play for the USMNT. But he has already played for the U-20 and U-21 National teams for Italy. So the rules are that you can play for the youth teams of one nation, and then change your mind when it comes to the full men's team?
4. Last one, I promise! Since San Jose is back next year, and they are still without a SSS, what was the point of relocating to Houston to years ago if they're back at SJ now?

You need an edit option on here Ives. Sorry for the spelling and grammatical errors.

Hey Ives,
Do you think Carlos Bocanegra is about to be transfered to another team? I thought he was in good form before Sanchez benched him. Do you think he is afraid he will be injured before the next window opens? What do you think of Sanchez? I think he'll be the next prem manager to get the axe.
Posted by: Johnny | December 13, 2007 at 03:31 PM
Any idea if Carlos Bocanegra is injured or is he falling out of favor at Fulham?

I'd like to impose my very real situation upon you... Hypothetically, you are an avid US soccer fan and follow the MLS with great interest. There is but one problem: you are a man without a club. You've never lived in a state with a MLS team and never lived closer than 200 miles to the nearest city sporting one. You can not think of one reason to hold any loyalty to any of the current teams but desperately want to follow one. Who do you cheer for?

How long do you think Dempsey will stay at Fulham? I think if they get relegated this year he will leave, but even if they manage to stay up I'm wondering if there are any bigger clubs interested in him.
Also, how soon is Michael Bradley out of the Netherlands and playing for a big club? I'm thinking a club like Blackburn or Everton, not Real or Barca.

What's the take on Harkes as an assistant coach? From the outside, he seems like someone who might get a head coaching shot in MLS in the next couple of years, given his resume and name recognition. But only if people actually think he's shown some ability during his Red Bull stint.
