Good morning folks. Today marks the final fulll day of soccer of the season and the English Premier League has been kind enough not to take this weekend off.
Instead, we have a robust schedule of matches, all of which can be seen either on Fox Soccer Channel or Setanta Sports USA. I will be busy attending to non-soccer matters today so I figured the least I could do was give you folks a post where you could add your comments on today's matches.
Whether you're home lounging, or at work for some reason, feel free to follow along here as everyone shares their comments below.
Enjoy the action.
Already got to watch Rangers beat Hibs. Shame almost all the matches save Everton-Arsenal are being played simultaneously.
Heres to hoping for some entertaining football.

Reading lets Spurs back in the match.

come on, newcastle! no one wants to see Big Sam out of a job, he looks like he'd do real damage in a soup line

Its days like today that remind me why West Ham is my club. What a win. I'm not sure those in the top 4 can ever really understand what this feels like.
Its messed up, but I'd bet avoiding relegation, beating the League Champs at home when you are on bad form, reaching an FA Cup (2006) is a higher high for us fans than winning Champions League for a team that expect it (like the big 4).
I'm babbling cause i'm excited, so don't hold these comments against me--emotional high right now!

Sounds like Spector had a pretty atrocious game.

I just signed up for Setanta Broadband now just so that I could watch a replay of the Spurs-Reading game. I suggest you all do the same.

Dave,
It wasn't his best. But personally I wouldn't call it atrocious. As always, its his distribution that needs to get better.
Joamiq, you can sign up for Setanta via ITVN and get the games onto your TV. Its great...

Dannyc - I literally signed up just so that I could immediately watch this Spurs-Reading replay. What entertainment! 10 goals! And luckily, 3 points for us! A striking clinic by Dimitar Berbatov (4 goals)! Not much defense all around and a nightmare for the keepers, though not much they could have done on most of those goals...
Spurs still have a lot of problems to address. Two goals conceded in 30 minutes without King, but two in 60 with him as well. The back line is alarmingly poor at clearing. Tom Huddlestone continues to frustrate - his passing and long range shooting are so valuable, but his lack of speed and defensive grit makes it difficult to find a place to play him. Jenas was entirely absent, as usual, and Lennon had an off game. But some days all you need is an offensive explosion from your big guns. (Not to be underestimated is Steed Malbranque's contribution from the left side of the midfield. What a consistent and useful contributor he is - tough two-way player, can do it all. I also love his facial hair. Call it Steed's Stache, or Malbranque's Magic Mustache - however you alliterate, it's great.)

Ives, word has just passed that Motherwell's Captain Phil O'Donnell has died after collapsing on the pitch in an SPL match against Dundee United. Apparently, he was about to be replaced and just fell to the ground.
Following the death of Sevilla's Antonio Puerta- FIFA has to seriously address this issue based on these two incidents.

Poor Tim Howard...
WTF, why are all the American 'keepers (Howard, Hanneman, Friedel) the recipients of so many goalfests lastely?????

What's more painful?
Having a root canal, colonoscopy, and your eyelashes plucked all at the same time.
or
Watching Fulham try to win a game.
I support the USMNT and all our boys abroad but this team is doomed for relegation.

I watched Arsenal/Everton today, and Arsenal drubbed the whining little punks 4-1. Very poorly officiated games. Ref didn't make any calls in the first half eventhough Everton were doing their best Jauque Cousteau impressions. He let the game get out of control and saw Bendtner and Arteta redcarded and Fabergas get a cheap yellow. I'll take MLS officiating anyday over the piss poor quality of the EPL.

Gunners back top of the table!!!
Not that anyone will beleive me but I almos posted on Fridat that West Ham would upset Man U. I wanted to tell my pal Danny that I was a Ham and Egger for a day.

I think someone may have commented recently that Clint Dempsey wasn't quite comparible to Dimitar Berbatov... what an idiot, Dempsey could match that performance in his sleep lol! Too bad for American soccer he might only be able to do it in his sleep. On that note Dempsey is still one of my favs til any young players show better, Lord knows I won't be screaming "In Eddie Johnson we trust"!

Tony, Thanks man! Your positive vibes must have helped!
I'm very glad Arsenal capitalized on the opportunity as well...that was quite a convincing performance by Eduardo today...

Danny - I was very excited about signing Eduardo. It was nice to see him pay dividends today. My only regret is that it was at Tim Howard's expense.

Tony, what did you think of Spector today? (I have seen some divided opinions)
Posted by: Dannyc58 | December 29, 2007 at 07:00 PM
Danny
He was okay, although I can't say I keyed on him. He screwed up on the penalty when he missed his header. But he was not atroscious.

Tony,
For me its just his distribution. I think positioning, tenacity, etc he is very good. And only 21. I love his possible future.
ps GO GIANTS!!!!!!!
