England, your new manager has arrived (You Write the Caption special)

Capelloengland_ap

Fabio Capello was introduced as England's new manager on Monday. The new highest paid soccer manager in the world must now figure out how to justify his HUGE salary in a year when England won't play any meaningful games for a long while.

Perhaps the funniest, and most fitting aspect of Capello's press conference was him posing above with an England jersey with THE TAG STILL ON IT. Wow. I get that England is paying Capello a lot of money but do they really plan on taking that shirt back to put it on the rack again?

How much is Capello being paid? Try 6.5 million pounds a year, which comes out to like 100 million in U.S. dollars. Okay, I'm kidding, it's about $13.1 million a year in American coin. I know, still depressing.

The above photo merits its own You Write the Caption. It has been a while since the last YTWC. So here is what I will do. I will give you all three Capello photos and you can write captions for any or all of them.

The above photo is Photo ONE. Here are the other two:

You Write the Caption: The Winners (11/7)

The wait is over. I'm sure some of you were wondering what happened to the last episode of You Write the Caption. Well, it was a busy month and I let it slip by for a few weeks but here's hoping that delay makes these caption entries that much funnier.

In case you forgot the last YWTC photo, it is the one above of Alexi Lalas playing in a recent charity match. It took a photo that hilarious to help bring back YWTC and here are the best caption suggestions submitted by you, the SBI readers. Enjoy:

You Write the Caption

Yes, it has been entirely too long.

You Write the Caption is back and I had to resurrect it after finding a great photo of everyone's favorite MLS team president, Alexi Lalas. The man who has ruined as many MLS teams as Andy Williams has played for made his return as a player recently in a charity soccer match.

Enjoy the photo and provide your own caption:

You Write the Caption

Good afternoon folks. It looks like the second half of the Q&A will run tomorrow so here's something to tide you over in the mean time.

This You Write the Caption photo isn't overly funny but it does provide material for some potentially funny captions. Here goes:

You Write the Caption (10/3)

Good afternoon folks. I know the hot topic in Major League Soccer right now is Ricardo Clark's kick of Carlos Ruiz. The incident has folks debating how Clark should be punished and how Ruiz should be punished.

One thing is clear from this incident. A lot of people really don't like Carlos Ruiz. It could be his flopping. It could be his dirty play. It could be his choice of haircuts. Whatever the reason, 'El Pescadito' may just be the most hated man in MLS.

With that in mind, here is a picture (courtesy of the Dallas Morning News via the Associated Press) that should also elicit some emotions from Ruiz haters and fans alike. Enjoy:

You Write the Caption (Materazzi edition)

There were tons of photos to choose from for a YWTC but I found a pair of photos of Materazzi from the France-Italy Euro qualifier. No, Materazzi didn't play, but he still managed to make a scene.

Enjoy:

You Write the Caption

Good morning folks. It is a bit of a slow news day so far this Thursday so I have decided to post the latest YWTC entry to get you thinking soccer.

This entry actually comes courtesy of Adam Spangler of This is American Soccer, who found the photo. U.S. national team fans will enjoy it while Mexican national team fans may not find it as funny. Let me be the first to say that if you can find a similar picture of an American player I'll gladly post it:
