The word got out Friday as to who really was behind the blue-ing of TE Jeremy Shockey's hands earlier in the week. At least there's a new suspect has emerged.
Rich Seubert, the king prankster, was long thought to be the culprit who ticked Shockey off immensely by putting blue dye into his gloves. The latest buzz is C Shaun O'Hara was behind the incident, although it was not aimed at Shockey.
O'Hara got one of the ball boys to pour the dye into the gloves of rookie TE Kevin Boss, a typical rookie prank. But the ball boy istead got the stuff all over Shockey's gloves, and Boss' helmet.
When informed of the charges against him, O'Hara said, "You guys are barking up the wrong tree. There's only one guy who has that blue ink and we all know who he is."
He would be Rich Seubert.
The fans attending the afternoon practice Friday broke into a cheer when No. 92 raced out of the locker room towards the practice field. But soon after his appearance that old jokester William Joseph peeled off Michael Strahan's jersey, revealing his own No. 94.
Tom Coughlin ruled WR Plaxico Burress (ankle) out of Sunday's game in Baltimore after Burress missed yet another practice Friday, He hasn't worked since Aug. 2
Sinorice Moss (ankle) and Zak DeOssie (ankle) both are question marks. DeOssie did snap for punts at practice.
The starters will play deep into the second quarter, with some playing longer than others, Coughlin said. WR Amani Toomer will play 10-to-12 snaps in his debut. Eli Manning will start at quarterback followed by Jared Lorenzen and Tim Hasselbeck.
Coughlin spoke to the University at Albany football team Friday morning, centering on the theme of overcoming adversity. Coughlin is a longtime friend of Great Danes coach Bob Ford. The two coached against one another when Coughlin was at the Rochester Institute of Technology in the early 1970s. Ford, who has been the Albany coach since starting the program as a club team in 1970, was 3-1 against Coughlin from 1970 through 1973.
The Pats claiming OL Chris Patrick off waivers either means the Giants missed something on this guy, or New England had some good college scouting reports on the guy who went undrafted in the supplemental draft.
