Former Tampa Bay CB Brian Kelly was at Giants Stadium Thursday for a visit. But he left without a deal being completed.
Kelly, 32, bought out the final year of his contract with the Bucs for $453,000. He is making the rounds and the smart money is for him to rejoin his former position coach, Rod Marinelli, in Detroit. He missed 19 games over the past two seasons, 14 in 2006 after undergoing toe surgery and five last year with a nagging groin problem. He did play in the playoff loss to the Giants and was in on three tackles.
Former Giants DT William Jospeh was scheduled to get a look in Miami, where former Giants outside backer Reggie Torbor will play the weakside inside position in the Dolphins 3-4 defense.
Former Giants P Sean Landeta has officially retired. Landetta did not punt in the NFL last year but was still open to any offers. He started his pro career 25 years ago with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL. His official departure means there are no former USFL players still active.
