Hideki Matsui is married. This news came as a shock - a real shock - inside the Yankees clubhouse. Jorge Posada had to look at the official Yankees PR release, and then he said, "Show this to Jete. I think he lost a bet.''
The catcher was right. Apparently, Matsui - secretly engaged - made a bet with Jeter as spring training began. The first one who gets married, wins. "Matsui got married,'' Jeter said, a few minutes after already hearing the news this morning. Yeah, he was stunned. He's also out about $1,000, according to Bobby Abreu - who also got in on the bet.
Matsui was married in New York, Wednesday, on his off day (Joe Girardi gave all the vets one day off this week) The manager didn't know what Matsui planned to do on his off day (and he never asks his vets), but Matsui volunteered the info on Monday, and asked to fly to New York for the day.
We're about to have the ceremony to rename Legends as George M. Steinbrenner Field. "This is a great thing. It really makes me proud,'' GMS said.
I wonder what Matsui will do with his porn collection, lol.
