RHP Jeff Marquez has allowed one earned run over his last 9 IP, covering two starts. 2B Kevin Russo has an 18-game hitting streak, batting .406 in that span with two HR and 11 RBI.
In Hawaii, LHP Jeremy Bleich is 3-1, wiht a 2.05 ERA (30.2 IP). RHP Andrew Brackman has 33 K in 29 IP. In Puerto Rico, RHP Ian Kennedy had a no-decision in his first start (Nov. 7), with 5 K and 3 BB in 4 IP.
As for RHP Phil Hughes at Arizona, "he's had good velocity, and his cutter has been working extremely well,'' GM Brian Cashman said, though Hughes will still have to earn his way onto the '09 starting rotation.
