For now, all remains quiet on the Andy Pettitte front. Monday could be quiet, too, but we ought to know by Tuesday whether he'll take the Yanks' one-year offer. All was quiet on the Mike Cameron front, too.
The Yanks have remained engaged on the Boras clients, and the Manny Ramirez situation could become especially interesting. The longer he's out there, without a substantial offer (except from L.A.) there's an increasing chance that the Yanks could come into play at a more serious level.
Look at their lineup. They could use another substantial middle-of-the-order hitter there.
i would prefer to see Texiera in the middle of the lineup, just because manny is a head case, but i will say that he is still one of the best hitters in baseball, its just a matter if you can deal with him and his craziness on a day to day basis.

Instead of spending $10 million on Pettitte and another $10 million on Cameron, the smart play would be to spend it on Tex, who would upgrade them both offensively and defensively. Plus with Matsui and Damon's contracts expiring after the season, they would have that $26 million to put toward Texeira's contact.
It's mindboggling that they probably won't make this obvious move despite how bad the offense may well turn out to be.
