There's another wave of pain stemming from the Dominican Republic's stunning WBC ouster, but this time it's affecting the Yankees. Robinson Cano came back with a sore right shoulder, and Damaso Marte returned with soreness in his left pectoral.
Neither player will participate in tomorrow's exhibition action, as previously planned. Neither player believes his injury is anything serious, but both will be examined Saturday.
The biggest concern for the Yankees is that Cano had experienced tighthness in the shoulder before he left for the WBC, and didn't tell the club. Then, he played every inning for the Dominican in the WBC.
Marte hurt himself lifting weights (something Joe Girardi wasn't pleased to hear) but pitched the same night he got hurt, which was Tuesday.
Did Cano tell anyone before he left for the WBC? If not, why not?
