Here's what we've learned, and what we're wondering about the 1-2 Yankees, after one series in Baltimore:
We learned: The Orioles bullpen is generally awful. The Yanks finally capitalized yesterday, and took advantage of a starter making his second big-league start.
We ask: Can Nick Swisher really crash the party three or four days out of the week? Can he unseat Xavier Nady in right field if he keeps this up? Or is he better suited as a weapon on the bench, for the most part?
We wonder: As Swish said yesterday, it's up to the skip to keep the role players happy. Ultimately, Hideki Matsui is the one who could end up in the most frustrating spot, if he has to keep "resting occasionally'' from his DH role.
We learned: CC Sabathia had a lights-out bullpen session yesterday, and corrected his delivery, where his foot was coming down too soon - causing his fastball, we suppose, to go haywire.
We ask: Was his velocity down an issue or not? They say no.
We wonder: If every fifth day will bring the same scrutiny. We say yes.
We learned: There's no reasonable way to get from Baltimore to Kansas City, even after a day game.
We ask: What do the schedule makers have against the traveling writers?
We wonder: If we can catch up on sleep on the way to Chicago, first leg on the way to KC.
