Goulbourne to Visit Rutgers - Again

GoulbourneLance Goulbourne, a 6-7, 215-pound junior swingman from The Hun School in Princeton, plans to make another trip to Rutgers next week after having enjoyed his June 14 visit.

"I thought it was pretty nice," Goulbourne said Thursday evening. "I found out a lot about Rutgers that I didn't really know. It has a great business school. I got to talk to coach (Fred) Hill and he told me about his plan for the next couple of years. It's a good fit and it looks good right now. That's definitely one of the schools I'm considering."

Goulbourne is also very high on Vanderbilt, but said that a number of schools are recruiting him, including Miami, Wake Forest, Northwestern, St. Joe's, George Washington, West Virginia, Virginia and Marquette. Many of the schools, including Rutgers and Seton Hall, have offered him, he said.

"When a bigger guy is on me, I can go by them," he said. "But I can also shoot the ball. It's a matchup problem."

Jonathan Stone, the Hun School coach, added: "He's very, very versatile. He has the ability to do a lot of different things. He probably has the ability to play some two (shooting guard), and a lot of four because he's so long."

Goulbourne is also a top-notch student who hopes to someday run his own business or become involved in finance.

"I don't think you're going to find a better person," Stone said. "He's a top-notch individual and a person of very high character."

Goulbourne is strongly considering Vanderbilt, and that school probably rates at the top of his list.

"I went down there and I liked the city a lot," he said. "Nashville's beautiful and the campus is beautiful. I'm comfortable with the coaching staff and the way they play. The only real drawback is the distance from home."

Still, Goulbourne seemed intrigued with Hill's approach at Rutgers

"Coach Hill talked about his recruiting class coming in and what he plans for the next few years," Goulbourne said. "They only had 10 wins last year. But he's looking to get better and he sees himself in the Final Four in the next five years. That's a big thing to look forward to, and I think that's possible."

Goulbourne said he expected to make a decision later this year.

"The earliest I would have a decision is August," he said. "I'm looking to make a decision by October."
