Rick Pitino has raided New Jersey yet again.
Samardo Samuels, the standout 6-9, 230-pound junior forward from St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, committed to Louisville Tuesday night.
"I committed to Louisville," Samuels said by phone.
Samuels, ranked No. 6 in the nation by Rivals in the Class of 2008, averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds for St. Benedict's, which finished 24-1 and was ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA Today for one week before falling to in-state rival St. Patrick.
This is dissappointing for two reasons. First, I really thought that Rutgers had a shot at him, and if they got him, that would open the floodgates for other great recruits. Secondly because Louisville will be unbelievable with their 07 class and now 08, just making the Big East that much tougher for Rutgers to compete in.
