From everything we hear, the search to replace Geoff Billet at Seton Hall has settled on a few candidates. Seton Hall alums Jose Rebimbas, currently the William Paterson head coach, and Danny Hurley, the St. Benedict's Prep coach, as well as Tony Bergeron, the head coach at American Christian (Pa.) apparently are not in the mix, but these guys are....
JERRY WALKER - Former St. Anthony and Seton Hall standout would bring instant connections to Bob and Danny Hurley's programs at St. Anthony and St. Benedict's, respectively. Has the plus of being an accomplished African-American, which can often help in recruiting. Questions remain whether he'll give up his work with Team Walker.
STEVE SAUERS - Current Director of Basketball Operations at Seton Hall has proven experience working under head coach Bobby Gonzalez. Spent two years at the Hoop Group where he directed the Eastern Invitational. Proven recruiter (helped bring Jared Jordan to Marist) and is passionate about the program.
NICK MARINIELLO - Bloomfield Tech coach has won four of the last five Group 1 state championships and last year led BT to the Tournament of Champions final. Coached numerous successful players, including Casiem Drummond (Villanova) and Da'Sean Butler (West Virginia). Also reportedly in the mix for a vacancy at St. John's. Great guy and is truly committed to the kids.
SHAHEEN HOLLOWAY - Seton Hall's all-time assist leader and a former administrative assistant under Gonzo recently left to accept a position at Iona under new head coach Kevin Willard. Would be difficult to return to Seton Hall, but it could be done.
