Boyle: Thomas Could Wait
Quintrell Thomas has said all along that he hoped to make his college choice by Friday, but St. Patrick coach Kevin Boyle now says Thomas is "a little confused" and may take as much as another week or more to decide.
"He's a little confused," Boyle said Thursday afternoon."The current schools he's involved with all have strengths and he's having a tough time deciding between those schools. He thinks he needs more time to make a decision."
Maryland is out of the picture, and Thomas will likely choose between Rutgers, Kansas and UNLV, although Boyle did not rule another school joining the fray at this late date.
Boyle said Thomas would attend Thursday night's nationally televised Rutgers football game against No. 3 South Florida. Rutgers target Dwight Miller will also be at the game.
Among the factors Thomas is weighing is whether to play at a place like Rutgers, where playing time would almost be immediately guaranteed, versus playing for a former NBA coach in Lon Kruger at UNLV or playing a school that could make this year's Final Four in Kansas.
"I think (Rutgers) caught his interest a little when he got there (for a previous visit)," Boyle said. "He ended up liking it when he got there."
As for UNLV, he called Kruger a "very good coach" with an NBA pedigree.
Boyle called Kansas a "traditional" program that will "probably get to the Final Four."
At any rate, Boyle doens't expect a decision this week.
"I don't think so," he said. "I think that will be put off."
Adam, please answer me this:
Why would any recruit go to Rutgers? Do you think that recruits want to go to a school that they know will never make the NCAA Tournament?
Rutgers is terrible, and we need a new head coach. Why would Thomas go to Rutgers?

I have no idea why this kid would want to go to Rutgers. We have nothing to offer. Our program is pathetic.

Somebody has to make sure that Thomas knows that the rumors about Rutgers being the STD capital of the northeast are nothing more than rumors. And if he straps on a rubber, he won't catch anything anyway, unless of course he goes down on the wrong girl and ends up with some weird growth on his lip.

Adam, please answer me this:
Why would any recruit not go to Rutgers? Isn't it logical you think that recruits would want to go to a school that they know is a sure-lock to make the NCAA's with Coach Hill? And also get a great education from the top state university in the country for student-athletes. What a perfect college experience to play Big East hoops in front of the Big Apple media and work at a big Wall St. firm as intern.
My alma mater Seton Hall is terrible, and we need a new head coach. GONZO has dragged us down from NIT/NCAA contender to BigEast basement. Why would Thomas not go to Rutgers?

Great post SHUPID-
And you didn't even get to mention that our corner college at Newark-East Orange has come a long way in cleaning-up the hookers and crack houses. I think the plan is about another 7-10 years and we'll be 79% clean-ed up.

Litta fellas are imploding. Glad I'm only a figment of their warped imagination.

SHU-PID,
You ask why a recruit would not go to Rutgers? The list is long:
- Poor coach
- No chance of ever playing in the NCAA Tournament
- Team hasn't played a NCAA Tourney game in 15 years, and hasn't won one in 27 years
- How many NBA players has Rutgers produced in the past two decades? You can count them on one hand.
- No TV exposure. Sure the Big East has great exposure, but do you think anybody outside the state of NJ tunes in to Rutgers basketball?
- Rutgers is a decent school academically, but a lot of kids don't want the state school environment, especially the Jersey state school. Maybe this kid doesn't drive a Camaro and doesn't have a mullet?
Seton Hall is nothing great, but they have been to the tournament frequently the past decade, they have a trip to the NCAA Finals that people actually remember, they have a quality fan base, they are a much better choice than Rutgers.
I hope that answers your question.

This kid would be foolish to come to Rutgers. The only thing that will turn Rutgers around is a new coach, and even that might not be enough.

The reason why Quintrell is taking his time to decide is because of all the posts on this message board. Before reading this board, QT was all about Rutgers. But this board has informed him of Rutgers terrible history and of the ineptitude of their head coach.
Thank you rubball and all for informing Mr. Thomas of Rutgers terrible hoops program and changing his mind.

I hope Quintrell lives his life of misery as a garbage man

RU 30--USF 27(that's a football score for you losers at da Hall). Oh yeah, RU the BigEast champ in baseball, and look out for RU Wrestling-we hired another great coach. GREAT COACHES IN ALL THE MAJOR COLLEGE SPORTS right here in the front yard of the Big Apple. NY Giants and Mets stars with glowing praise for Rutgers in the spotlight NCAA game of the week-what a night. How's the (male) hookers and crack houses down at the corner of Newark and E.Orange rubball, K-High, bac2therac and rest of you very merry men?

Come on my fellow HallBallers-let's cut our losses.
But you ask why a recruit would go to Rutgers? The list is long:
- Great coaches in all major collegiate sports
- For hoops, playing in the NCAA Tournament in two years under the experienced guidance of Big East veteran coach Fred Hill
- Nobody but us remember Hall's one-hit wonder NCAA Final season when mullets were all the rage...or maybe it was during the Carter presidency?
- RU is the number one state university for student-athletes in the nation.
- Unlimited TV exposure. Sure the Big East has great exposure, but can you imagine the exposue when RU keeps winning? Can't wait to see the TV ratings from RU's gut-check win tonight against #2 So. Florida (again that's American football my fellow SHU alumni)
- Seton Hall is terrible, we never recovered from getting stomped by Douby-led RU in the Big East tourney and will never go to a tournament again with GONZO as coach.
I hope that answers your question.

You mean RU Men's Hoops will be in the NCAA in 2 years, the Women's team will probably win the title 2 out of the next 3 years.

Good call again SHU-PID.

Do you people honestly think that rutgers wil make the ncaa tourney with fered hill as coach? Why? He's a bad coach, he's bringing in below avergae talent by big east standards.
If Quintrell wants to play in the ncaa tournament, he would go to Saint Joseph's (PA) and play for Phil Martelli.
Posted by: headpainter | October 19, 2007 at 08:57 AM
Shooboohoo, do you really think Rutgers has a great basketball coach? What are you smoking? Pass some of that over here.
Rutgers won't play in a NCAA tournament game so long as Fred Hill is coach.

Can't you clowns at least stand-up with your own TROLL handles? It's very creepy that you litta fellas have me so deep inside your head(s). As for your drug cravings, hurry across the street from your school over to crack house alley and take a hit.
