Jeff Goodman at FoxSports.com is reporting that Indiana assistant coach Rob Senderoff has stepped down and become the fall guy for the recent phone scandal that surfaced at the school.
Senderoff apparently set up 10 three-way calls involving IU head coach Kelvin Sampson, recruits and himself, a violation of NCAA rules. Sampson was not allowed to make any phone calls for a one-year period ending in May as a result of previous NCAA phone violations he committed at Oklahoma; Sampson made more than 500 illegal calls at that school.
After the latest incidents were revealed, Sampson lost a $500,000 bonus and Senderoff was told he could not call recruits or go on the road.
The question now, of course, is how Senderoff's resignation might effect 6-9 Indiana recruit Devin Ebanks (above), currently spending a fifth year at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Conn., under head coach Jere Quinn.
"As of right now, nothing has changed," Quinn said Monday. "As soon as anything changes, I will call you."
Several other local players, including Kevin Jones of Mount Vernon High; Lance Stephenson of Lincoln (N.Y.) and Dexter Strickland of St. Patrick (N.J.) are also considering Indiana. We hope to have comments soon from Gerard Jones, Kevin's brother, on whether this might impact his recruitment.
Lance Stephenson Sr. said after the penalties were levied that he would still consider sending his son to IU.
"We have a pretty good relationship with Coach Sampson and I would like to continue to develop it and I would like him to continue to develop his relationship with Lance," he said.
"Indiana is a great institution, especially for basketball, and when you combine the two with the fans they have there. The arena is beautiful. Whether Coach Sampson is there or not, that would definitely be a place that we would consider sending Lance."
Would you consider the phone violations to be more or less severe an infraction than the time Fred Hill tampered with Keon Lawrence while Keon had a signed LOI with Missouri?

SETON HALL TROLL ALERT!!!
It's that bozo troll rub-ball posing as RUoldschool again.
Why did you give up on searching for Corey Stokes as an incoming BigEast guard?? (P.S. Rivals has him listed as #8 small forward, ‘Nova site as SF too.)
Please show some class and stop embarrassing us real Seton Hall guys. Please keep your troll turd off this site and where it belongs on the Seton Hall website message boards.
Adam puts too much quality work into his blog and it would be refreshing if your troll turd stopped stinking it up.
here's your link back:

Adam,
I seriously suggest you get a handle on this troll, RUoldschool. He's a sick loser who posts on many college basketball boards under a variety of names all with the same agenda; spam RU. If you allow him to post unchecked, your site will get overrun with people taking shots at him. The best advice is to ban him now, log his IP address and not let him register again from that address.

Good post ShuPid. Really rub-ball troll, let's not go down that path again of comparing RU Coach Hill to our Seton Hall Coach Gonzo.
All knowledgeable RU fans know that Fred Hill has already upgraded recruiting for the program overall and outrecruited your little college that should be entrenched in the Big East upper echelon after having no competition for 20 years for the local talent that wanted to stay home and play in the Big East.
Seton Hall was one of the original 7 Big East basketball schools in May 1979 with Syracuse, Connecticut, Boston College, Providence, St. John's and Georgetown. How pathetic it is how far Seton Hall is behind (all but St.John’s) these schools now, including Big East runaway B.C.
As a Seton Hall almuni, I can't suffer through another review of how we at Seton Hall have been outrecruited by our rival RU, like this one:
RU: 1)Corey Chandler, a 6-2, 190-pound guard from Newark's East Side HS, was a consensus all-state selection in 2006-07. Rated the 10th best point guard prospect nationally, and no. 2 incoming freshman guard in Big East.
2) Mike Coburn- ranked no. 19 as a recruit compared to our star guard Eugene Harvey at #20!
3) Earl Pettis-a national top 40 prospect.
4) Mike Rosario-new commit ranked #15 guard nationally
SHU: 1) M.Glover- 6’5” POWER Forward??-6’5” PF in Big East? Better suited for A-10 as a PF. (How's this guy going to handle 6'9" 270lb new RU commit C.Morris next year??)
2) A.Okusun-JUCO
3) Mike Davis-NR (RU reject)
4) J Hazell-#18 SG—close, but behind RU’s Mike Rosario.
5) Chris Smith-NR
Yikes, that's really embarrassing for our Coach Gonzo.

Real problem with these Seton Hall trolls Adam. It's too easy for them to cut&paste their Seton Hall Message Board posts back and forth here.
Posted by: RUrising | October 29, 2007 at 06:32 PM
Why should Adam censor his board from legitimate information?
Fred Hill faced much criticism for allegations relating to his ncaa violations, specifically tampering with Keon Lawrence after Keon had a signed letter of intent with Missouri. This isn't made up.
Why can't we Rutgers fans discuss this issue? Why do we all have to drink the Fred Hill kool aid? Why aren't we allowed to objectively comment on our coach's flaws?
Some of us don't like Fred Hill as coach. His game planning is poor, his recruiting below average, he is a PR nightmare, he has suspect ethics and he is a poor representative for our school.
Why do some of you fellow Rutgers fans demand that we all praise a man who is grossly inadequate for the head coaching position at our school?
Posted by: scarletrat | October 29, 2007 at 07:30 PM
And RUrising...you really shouldn't talk about trolls like rubball2.... At least rubball2 is a Rutgers fan. Your act posing as a couple of SHU fans is tired and pathetic.... If you're going to rip SHU, at least do it from your own handle.
I think RUrising should be banned for having a bunch of fake SHU screen names and spamming the board.... That would be sweet justice.

SETON HALL TROLL ALERT!!!
It's that bozo troll rub-ball posing as another phony RU again, or maybe another Seton Hall nitwit fresh off the Seton Hall website Message Boards.
Do us a favor so that our Seton Hall alma mater might stop looking so pathetic and help your little buddy in searching for Corey Stokes as an incoming BigEast guard.

Stop crying SHU troll. Crying about RU is perfect for your Seton Hall Message Boards.
And please help your little buddy rub-ball find that profile on ‘Nova’s SF Corey Stokes as an incoming BigEast guard I see he's been whining about all day.
What a couple of buffoons.

Hey, jackasses!, This article is more about the INDIANA HOOSIERS! Sorry to have to tell you that SH and RU are not big time! I feel for you, as you have had success (SH in the 80's, but none the less). These kids want to go to a school with Tradition! Now, we are talking about phone calls, not video tapes or stealing players, but phone calls. phone calls. Please, this is too much!
