Tip-Off Sked Posted; NJIT to Play at The Rock

Rosario_use_thisThe Hoop Group Tip-Off Classic is always one of the more exciting events of the high school hoops season because it brings together talented teams that don't normally play one another. This year's event runs Dec. 15-16 at Seton Hall.

Some of the games that stand out for us are these Sunday's matchups: Seton Hall-bound Jordan Theodore and Paterson Catholic take on West Virginia-bound Darryl "Truck" Bryant and St. Raymond's;  Louisville commit Samardo Samuels and St. Benedict's meet recent Syracuse commit Mookie Jones and Peekskill; Rutgers-bound Mike Rosario and St. Anthony take on Vanderbilt commit Lance Goulbourne and The Hun School; and Kansas-bound Quintrell Thomas and St. Patrick face Newark Science.

In other scheduling news, NJIT will play four men's games this year at The Rock in Newark. The Highlanders face Army Dec. 6; Rutgers Nov. 13; Cornell Jan. 15; and Texas Pan-American Jan. 26. The NJIT women will also play two games there.

This sounds like a great recruiting opportunity for Seton Hall. A chance to host all of these fine players.

It is a shame about Mike Rosario. You never like to see a kid give up on his dreams at such a young age. Throwing away his college career by attending Rutgers is the same as throwing away his college career. Let's hope that he has a good time at Rutgers to make up for his view that college basketball is not improtant to him any more.

Keep up the great work, Adam. Your effort is truly appreciated.

I am ashamed of my fellow Seton Hall dorm mates trolling as RU fans. While they do echo /copy all the same stupidity from one anothers’ blog posts, I do not understand why they do so in public forums that recruits read. They really make us Seton Hall kids look like idiots. And “RuinFLA",you are even more pathetic than these kids.

Who really believes that Seton Hall has a shot at top recruits? Going to Seton Hall would be like throwing away your college career and most of these kids already demonstrated their intelligence by not wasting time with our Coach Gonzo.

He is the worst coach in the Big East. He did have some success in the MAAC against Siena, Marist, Canisius, Fairfield, etc. (those are actually colleges by the way). We were embarrassed when Coach Gonzo led us to defeat against hid old MAAC rival St. Peter’s.

Great point ShuPid.

For two decades Seton Hall was the only Big East option for all this area talent and should be entrenched in the upper echelon of the Big East. Instead we have lost 3 out of 5 to rising Rutgers and have been outrecruited by RU’s new coach Fred Hill already.

C’mon RuinFLA, why use this comment section for positive and false and misleading pro-Seton Hall commentary? Please be objective and honest about the sorry state of our school here at the intersection of Newark & East Orange.

Hey, RUrising, you are not fooling anybody with your phony SHU posts. Just knock it off.

Right on again SHUtin. Let’s do quick review of how we at Seton Hall have been outrecruited by our rival RU;

RU: 1)Corey Chandler, a 6-2, 190-pound guard from Newark's East Side HS, was a consensus all-state selection in 2006-07. Rated the 10th best point guard prospect nationally, and no. 2 incoming freshman guard in Big East.
2) Mike Coburn- ranked no. 19 as a recruit compared to our star guard Eugene Harvey at #20!
3) Earl Pettis-a national top 40 prospect.
4) Mike Rosario-new commit ranked #15 guard nationally

SHU: 1) M.Glover- 6’5” POWER Forward??-6’5” PF in Big East? Better suited for A-10 as a PF.
2) A.Okusun-JUCO
3) Mike Davis-NR (RU reject)
4) J Hazell-#18 SG—close, but behind RU’s Mike Rosario.
5) Chris Smith-NR

Food post, RUinFla. Mike Rosario definitely made an odd choice in Rutgers. You have to wonder why a kid would give up on his dreams at such a young age. Rutgers = throwing your career away. He will never play a NCAA Tournament game, but I guess he doesn't have the heart to care about that sort of stuff.

Doesn't NR mean alot of upside?

Eugene Harvey is a great player. Gonzo outrecruiting us for Harvey is one of Fred Hill's biggest disappointments.

And besides Chandler, all of Hill's other recruits might as well go play in the A 10, because that is the type of talent he is bringing in.

I also wish we could have landed Mike Davis. He is going to be a good player. Another example of Gonzo outrecruiting Fred Hill. Fred Hill is not a good coach, and his recruiting is poor.

Why did Mike Rosario commit to Rutgers? That's a great question. I have heard that he is afraid of the NCAA Tournament, and by going to Rutgers he doesn't have to worry about ever playing it. Unlike Gonzo, Fred Hill has never coached in a NCAA Tourney game. And unlike Seton Hall, Rutgers is not a regular dance invitee.

I'm not sure but think NR means NOT READY. Could be not ready for Big East play or NOT READY for basic math.

Great job for RU as usual for its student-athletes. In Hill's first season as head coach saw all six of his seniors earn diplomas. It marked the highest number of men's basketball graduates in the conference. The academic achievement continued as the team achieved a 3.3 cumulative grade point average.

3.3!!! Gaudy numbers there...and high math for our recruits. Heck, how can our guys count past two when there is only one shoelace per sneaker?

So you are saying that Mike Rosario lacks heart, and that is why he is at Rutgers? Makes sense.

Fred Hill is assembling a nice middle of the pack A 10 quality team. Too bad we play in the Big East.

Hey ShuPid (RURising), you do realize that we (Rutgers) has one of the worst graduation rates in the nation. Do you really want to open that pandora's box?

Kids who go to Rutgers to play basketball don't go to class and usually don't graduate.

www.FireFredHill.com

Somebody get this site up and running. A statement MUST be made!!

Hey, there's our dumb dorm buddy rubball from the floor below us. Is he really that stupid and couldn't remember the NCAA website provided to him previously that rated the Big East schools Academic Progress Rates?

Our guys at da Hall weren't as bad as UConn and L'Ville, but fell short of matching up with RU again as student-athletes.

Our new recruit Theodore (3stars) definitely made an odd choice in Seton Hall. You have to wonder why a kid would give up on his dreams at such a young age. Seton Hall = throwing your career away. He will never play a NCAA Tournament game with Coach GONZO here, but I guess he doesn't have the heart to care about that sort of stuff.

So you are saying that Jordan Theodore lacks heart, and that is why he is at Seton Hall? Makes sense.

GONZO is assembling a nice middle of the pack MAAC quality team. Too bad he’s having flashbacks to his days playing against Marist, Siena, and Fairfield, we play in the Big East.

I don't know if Theodore lacks heart, but he probably lacks the ability to count more than one shoelace per sneaker. Why else would he matriculate at da Hall, at the corner of East Orange & Newark?

Looks like RUrising's childish and boorish antics, posing as a SHU fan, have returned.

RUrising, you are really emarrassing our university and insulting Adam and his effort.

We all know rubball2 is a tool. He is always bashing Fred Hill and Rutgers. He has been ever since the Lance Thomas fiasco. But there is no reason for a formerly quality poster such as yourself to engage in this anti-SHU campaign.

RUrising, please show some class.

ZZZZZZ.

Since you're such a master sleuth bikini, try to figure out who is the phony RUoldschool posting above. Certainly not the classy RU supporting posts of old.

Just another pathetic litta Seton Hall fella like you.

RUrising, let's get a couple of things straight:

1. I am a Rutgers fan. Stop by section 118 at any home game and ask for BK.

2. Are you really calling yourself classy? You are a disgrace to Rutgers with your phony SHU posts. You embarrass us all.

3. While some of the negative posts may be Trolls, I know rubball very well from the rivals message boards, and he is a big time Fred Hill hater but an even bigger Rutgers fan.

Thanks for “straightening me out” Bikini.

You really are delusional. In your delusional rants against RU as phony RU fan(s) you are a disgrace to yourself(ves) and Seton Hall. The Seton Hall guys I know well do not hide.

You and rub-ball are the same Seton Hall idiot(s) trolling as RU fans. Now you’re trying this dumb good cop/dumb bad cop routine via rub-ball. Give it a rest and have fun at center court at the half-empty PRU Center for your Hall Ball this year.

(I am amused by your second challenge for me to meet up with you. Again, can't tell if it's a threat or not, but it is amusing litta fella. Are you serious?)

RUrising, BKin118 is one of the biggest Rutgers fans I know.

Well since you say so RedTeam, it must be gospel. Of course you don't in real life know any RU fans RedTeam because you're just another Seton Hall nitwit trolling as an RU fan on this site.

All knowledgeable RU fans know that Fred Hill has already upgraded recruiting for the program overall and outrecruited your little college that should be entrenched in the Big East upper echelon after having no competition for 20 years for the local talent that wanted to stay home and play in the Big East.

Seton Hall was one of the original 7 Big East basketball schools in May 1979 with Syracuse, Connecticut, Boston College, Providence, St. John's and Georgetown. How pathetic it is how far Seton Hall is behind (all but St.John’s) these schools now, including Big East runaway B.C.

And of course no real RU fans would engage in the same classless attacks against an RU recruit's heart. Maybe one day your pal rub-ball will have the chance to tell Mike Rosario to his face his big Internet talk.

I do thank SHUPID/others for taking the time to do the research that exposes how idiotic and pathetic you Seton Hall trolls really are in trying to trash RU and Coach Hill because Seton Hall Hoops has become the new Syracuse Football in the Big East. Keep up the good work; the truth is the best pesticide for trolls.

Sorry the truth hurts all you Seton Hall trolls.

A SAMPLING OF RECENT RU-BASHING POSTS FROM bkin118:

"I don't understand when fellow Rutgers alumni bash the school on the internet. I am sure every recruit is aware of Rutgers lack of bb history, and the fact that the current state of the program is poor. But Fred Hill already has an uphill battle with having little to offer recruits.

Reminding recruits that by chosing rutgers they are electing to never play a NCAA tournament isn't going to help anything at Rutgers. I am sure they are already aware of that, and I am also sure that there are plenty of recruits who are perfectly content knowing that their ceiling is the NIT, which is fine by me.

I know that guys like rubball want Fred Hill fired, but this isn't the way to go about it. Just accept that we are a program whose highest expectations are the NIT and enjoy the ride."

"Texas?
Yeah, I can see that happening. If I were from Texas I would definitely be all about playing for Rutgers over UConn. I mean, Rutgers might have one or two NIT games a year on television, while UConn has 60% of their games nationally televised.

Keep you delusions in check next time you post.
And I love Rutgers as much as anybody else out there."

"Patrick- my intel has it at 99.9% that you will be wearing scarlet at Rutgers. You along with Lance Thomas and Daryl Watkins will make for the most dominant front-court in this storied program's history."

You sure sound like a true RU fan BKin118, almost as believable as our school Seton Hall will ever getting out of the Big East gutter under Coach GONZO.

Great research SHUtin.

Agreed, can't see that our Seton Hall will ever be getting out of the Big East gutter under Coach Gonzo.

When you look at Coach Hill’s recruiting vs. Coach Gonzer’s given all the Hall history we like to fantasize about, it’s really embarrassing. Hey, did you know that RU’s incoming PG Mike Colburn was rated higher (19) as a recruit than our star PG Harvey (20)?

Now that’s amazing. And why couldn’t Coach Gonzer pull-in RU’s freshman Corey Chandler, rated as the number 2 incoming guard in the entire Big East. That’s unacceptable especially since Chandler is from our Newark East Side, which I think has Seton Hall’s same zip code.

Just another great New Jersey player taking his A game anywhere but to the corner of Newark & East Orange. We're used to this by now though.

We did get Mike Davis after RU rejected him. His NR recruit ranking means he has upside, right?

Oh well, if Syracuse can get used to being the Big East football laughingstock, we can do the same in Big East basketball.
