Dortch to Central Connecticut

Matt Dortch has finally found a home.

Dortch, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound star running back who led Wayne Valley to the North 1, Group 3 title game, has given an oral commitment to Division I-AA Central Connecticut State and can sign on Wednesday, National Signing Day. He and his family are working out the details of a partial scholarship.

Dortch visited the school late last week and felt it was the best option after Division I-A Wisconsin and several other schools stopped recruiting him. Central Connecticut finished 6-5 last season and 4-2 in the Northeast Conference.

“The campus was nice,” said Dortch, a second-team Associated Press All-State selection and the 2007 Herald News Offensive Player of the Year. “It wasn’t too big, it wasn’t too small.
