Rutgers Awaiting Rosario; Nutter Says Goodbye
Rutgers will finish last in the Big East Conference, yet Rutgers commit Mike Rosario and the St. Anthony Friars could be headed for a Tournament of Champions title and the No. 1 ranking in the nation.
The Scarlet Knights hope one is a solution for the other.
Twenty-four hours after Rosario, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard and McDonald's All-American, scored 17 points to help St. Anthony win the Non-Public B state championship, 74-44, over Trenton Catholic at the Ritacco Center in Toms River, the Scarlet Knights will take the floor for the last game of its season against Seton Hall at the Prudential Center.
"I think the problem there has been that for a period of time Rutgers just wasn't getting enough quality players," said St. Anthony coach Bob Hurley, whose team set a national record Saturday with its 25th state championship. "The quality of their roster right now, it's just not a successful Big East roster."
