Science Park 56,Cedar Grove 36
Anthony Baskerville tallied 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as Science Park easily handled Cedar Grove, 56-36, in a Group 1 semifinal Thursday at East Orange Campus.
Science Park (27-2) will play Salem in the Group 1 state championship game Sunday at Rutgers. The Newark school will be seeking its second state crown in the last four years.
Rameel Johnson added 11 points for North 2, Group 1 champ Science Park and Stanley Elliott added 10. The Newark school led 8-0 out of the gate, 20-11 after one quarter and 30-16 at the break.
Adam Galuppo scored a game-high 21 points for North 1, Group 1 champ Cedar Grove (24-4).
If Science Park wins the Group 1 championship, it says here they should be the No. 2 seed in the Tournament of Champions behind Bob Hurley's St. Anthony team (assuming the Friars win Non-Public B Saturday, of course.)
Science Park may be a Group 1 school but at this point they are the second best team alive in the tournament.
