Bailey to UMass ?; Shooting Stars Win IS8 Despite 41 from Fontan

Hashim_baileyAs first reported here, Paterson's Hashim "Big City" Bailey may be on the move later this summer. The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that the 6-foot-10 Bailey will leave Memphis for UMass after completing summer school at Memphis. Former Memphis assistant Derek Kellogg is now the head coach at UMass. Memphis head coach John Calipari told the Appeal that Bailey was staying home during the Tigers' upcoming trip to China.

**Speaking of Paterson, the "Silk City," the home of Lou Costello, Larry Doby, Tim Thomas, Nicole Louden and Essence Carson, how about Fordham-bound G Jio Fontan dropping in 41 points in the championship game of the IS8 on Sunday?

Samardo_jioThe Playaz were beaten by Samardo Samuels, Devin Ebanks and the Shooting Stars, 122-104. The Louisville-bound Samuels led the Shooting Stars with 29 points to earn MVP honors, while Ebanks scored 26 points. He announced Sunday that he would attend West Virginia over Memphis, Rutgers and Texas.

Fordham-bound big man Chris Gaston of St. Benedict's added 17 points for the Playaz, and Rutgers commit Mike Rosario had 16.

Let's give credit to Fordham assistant Jared Grasso, who reeled in Fontan, Gaston and Alberto Estwick, also of St. Anthony.
