Ebanks in Memphis; Decision Could Come Quickly

Devin Ebanks was mobbed by reporters Friday at the airport in Memphis, where he is making the last of his four visits before picking a college.

"I just want to see what their plan is for me, how I fit in the school academically, socially, everything," Ebanks told a group of reporters Friday afternoon at Memphis International Airport, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Memphis already has four recruits coming in for next season, including five-star guard Tyreke Evans and stud wing Wesley Witherspoon. Both have been calling and texting Ebanks in an effort to get him to join them.

The 6-9 Ebanks is the No. 13 overall recruit in the Class of 2008, according to Rivals. He secured his release from Indiana in the wake of the Kelvin Sampson recruiting scandal and will decide between Memphis, Rutgers, Texas and West Virginia.

Ebanks told the Commerical Appeal he will likely announce his decision on May 18, a day after his graduation from St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn.

I haven't decided who's No. 1, No. 2," Ebanks said. "We'll have to figure that out in the weeks to come."

St. Thomas More coach Jere Quinn said in a phone interview that Ebanks was also considering visiting Georgia Tech at one point, but those plans are now off.

"He was thinking of doing an unofficial, but they just decided that they're very comfortable with the four schools they're looking at and they're going to go from there," Quinn said Saturday by phone.

"I think Dev will have a gut feeling what he feels most comfortable with. But I'll tell you what, he certainly enjoyed Rutgers (when he visited last weekend).

"He liked the kids, liked the coaches, liked the opportunities."

Asked what his gut feeling was, Quinn joked, "Working with kids for 30 years, that gut is gone."

And yet, we have some fans on fan boards trying to claim that based upon a few sound bytes, one school or another is now eliminated???? Geesh....

Either, or, it's down to the wire. Seemingly, Devin himself still isn't sure yet. Sound familiar BK? ;)
Frankly, I can't see it not working out for him whichever school he chooses, hoops wise. But ya gotta love Rutgers chances here. Talk about a sea change for RU hoops. Win or lose this particular "sweepstakes". Kudos Coach Hill!!!!
