Stith to St. John's

Malikstith5_12200Malik Stith, a 5-foot-11 PG from East Mecklenberg High School in Charlotte, N.C. and a native of Long Island, committed to St. John's on Friday.

"The chance to go back home feels good," Stith told Justin Young of Rivals at the Tournament of Champions. "It's a good fit for me. The chance to play at Madison Square Garden and doing it in front of my friends and family for four years just felt right to me."

Stith plans to spend next year at Bridgton Academy in Maine. Bridgton is fast becoming a pipeline for St. John's. The Red Storm got Qa'rraan Calhoun, Justin Burrell and Paris Horne from that program as well. Calhoun transferred prior to last season to Barton County Community College in Kansas and will enroll at Houston next season.

Rutgers has already gotten two commitments from the Class of 2009 in Dane Miller and Austin Johnson, leaving Seton Hall as the lone local school without a commitment from the junior class.
