The Rutgers football team has added two important recruits from the Class of 2009, bringing the total haul to seven recruits from that class. Four of those recruits rank in the ESPN 150.
Desmont Scott, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound all-purpose back from Durham (NC) Hillside, committed to Greg Schiano's team on Tuesday. Scott is ranked No. 2 nationally among all-purpose backs by Rivals.
Rutgers already landed Cardinal O'Hara (Pa.) QB Tom Savage, who chose the Scarlet Knights over Penn State, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida State. That means their top two recruits for '09 are from out of the traditional State of Rutgers -- New Jersey/New York/Florida.
Rutgers also secured a commitment from Mike Larrow, a 6-3, 260-pound DE from Union HIgh. He chose Rutgers over Syracuse, Illinois, South Florida and Oregon.
Recruiting analyst Chris Melvin of EliteRecruits.com and the Elite College Combine calls Larrow the "biggest sleeper in the state of New Jersey."
"Mike Larrow is a sensational defensive lineman," Melvin said. "He has run a 40 in 4.8-4.9 seconds although he is much quicker in game situations. There aren't too many players that come off the end like Larrow. He is big, agile and tenacious. He comes off the ball low and with explosion. He has a powerful upper and lower body and is impossible to block.
"Off the field, Larrow is a kind, mannered and nonchalant individual, but on the field he is a terror. There are bigger name recruits out there at this time, but this kid Larrow has all the tools to be a star at DE or even DT at the next level depending on how he grows. The kid is the real deal and a huge get for Rutgers."
Nice report Adam. As an FYI, four of the seven RU 2009 football commits to-date are on the ESPN 150 list.

Congrats Rising. I like RU football-it's good for our state to have success at a high-level collegiate sport. But who are the many "other others" schools?
