Kidd update: Back's not good
Jason Kidd likely will miss a whole week of work if not more unless his back improves quickly.
Kidd was back at the chiropractor Wednesday. He is out for both preseason games this weekend - he's not going to Boston on Friday. It's expected the Nets will have off Saturday. That means unless Kidd goes through the Thursday morning shootaround, Sunday could be the next time Kidd works out with the team.
"We’ll see," Lawrence Frank said. "I spoke to him this morning. He’s at the chiropractor now. Hopefully the swelling continues to reduce. We’ll just kind of see. We just have to see where he’s at. I wish I could be more definitive. He’s making some progress, which is encouraging, but he’s still not good enough to practice."
Kidd hurt himself on Sunday during a defensive drill that includes an elastic rope. He's been at the chiropractor the past four days.
The Nets are not in panic mode yet. When Frank was asked what does he do if Kidd is out still when the regular starts, the coach said slow down.
"We’re jumping way ahead of ourselves," he said. "Let’s take it day by day. If this was the day before the regular season it would be a topic of conversation. But right now Jason’s getting treatment. He’ll get better every day and we’ll go from there. We’ve got 15 days until Oct. 31."

With Kidd not there he was unable to comment on reported allegations that he groped a woman at a trendy New York nightclub last week. The Nets statement: "We are aware of the situation and, until we have more information, we will have no comment."

Nenad Krstic may be in the starting lineup when the Nets host the Knicks on Thursday. Don't expect him to play much, but it's certainly a positive sign that 10 months after tearing his ACL he's back playing for the Nets.
Krstic is sore - all over - and he has some tendonitis in his left knee. He said it's expected. Frank said if Krstic feels OK on Thursday morning he'll play. The Nets' valuable big man is looking forward to it.
"I’m not in great shape, but it’s going to get there only in a game," Krstic said. "Doing stuff after practice [helps], but I need playing time, too."

The latest injury landry list: Kidd, of course, is out. Bostjan Nachbar's neck is bothering him. He didn't practice, but said he thinks he will play tonight. Jason Collins, who had a sprained right wrist, practiced in full as did Josh Boone (left ankle sprain). Darrell Armstrong (left foot) also returned to practice. Yet on the last play, Eddie Gill stepped on Armstrong's left foot. He left practice with his foot iced and limping.
Oh, and Mile Ilic missed the end of practice after feeling dizzy. He didn't play the last two preseason games so I didn't bother asking about his status for tomorrow.
We need Kidd, he's the leader of this team on and off the court. I'll get the heating pad ready you get the ice packs!
