Late Williams benched

Sean Sean Williams is in trouble again.

It's not what you think. But the Nets rookie forward showed up 15 minutes late for Friday's shootaround so coach Lawrence Frank benched him for the preseason opener against Philadelphia.

"Sean, in all due respect, has been no problem whatsoever," Frank said. "The kid was late. There's a penalty for being late. ... Don't overblow it. He's late. There's a penalty. Move on."

Still, this isn't the start Williams, or the Nets, were hoping for. (Click here for more).

Frank said once again the starting center's spot is Jason Collins to lose. He wouldn't say this, but thus far no one has taken it from him. But the Nets have been impressed with Malik Allen, who could start alongside Collins until Nenad Krstic is back playing regular minutes.

Frank also said he could see Jamaal Magloire and Krstic playing together - not starting - but playing together at times. I think everyone envisioned Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson, Krstic and Magloire together at some point. That team would be hard to guard.

Allan Houston had his first practice with the Knicks on Friday. Here's what he said about the Nets:

"It is close enough to home. Some things you just know. After I had our little girl, I just knew. I started to just think about, I don't need to be in New Jersey, I need to be in New York. Some things you just know what you had to do.”

Hey Iannazzone! I sm wondering if L Frank would do to Sean what he did to Adams after he was late to a shootaround. Remember since that time he never really gave Hassan any opportunities on the court.

Just like to say if everyone knew why he was really late he should have never been kept out of the game Lawrence Frank is just a bad coach and he made another bad call.

Hey Al! how can you think Malik allen starting for the Nets don' you think Boki Nachbar would be a great Power Foward on this team he's 6'9" and could run the floor so well with Jason,RJ and Vince,he is so athletic and he can bury the 3 at any time.In my opinion Jason Kidd could make him the Big 4.
