Sean Sits Again

Lawrence Frank is coaching to win games, and apparently doesn’t think Sean Williams can help him.

This is a time when you would think the rookie could get some valuable experience

“Playing time,” Frank said about Williams, “that’s coach’s decision.”

The coach decided Williams didn’t deserve to play in the Nets’ 111-98 win over the Bucks last night. Frank also kept him out of Friday’s blowout in Toronto.

He’s being consistent from the standpoint that he says he’s coaching these games like any other. Frank said he’s not going to use these remaining games to get a better look at some of the players.

“I’m going in with the mindset to try to win the game,” Frank said. “I don’t know how much you get from a true evaluation from seeing a guy play the last three games of the year when you know you’re not playing in the postseason and there’s not really pressure. Maybe you look at giving a guy more of a chance but I don’t know how much of a true evaluation you really get.

“It’s like evaluating a guy in the preseason or in summer league. I think your approach as a team is to win the game. If you saying anything less than you’re setting yourself up for something you don’t want to watch.”

Frank also is being consistent with Williams’ role. Williams hasn’t been in the rotation for some time. You can’t get a straight answer as to why other than usual rookie things. I don’t know if Williams has done anything. And Williams said he has no idea why he’s not playing.

“None,” he said. “I’m just as surprised as you all are.”

There was a point where it looked like Williams was going in the game late in the fourth. He got off the bench and went to the scorer’s table to check in. But after a timeout, he didn’t enter the game. He returned to the bench yet he was announced by the PA guy as if he was entering the game.

The Nets felt good after this win, even though they were playing against guys named Ramon Sessions, Royal Ivey and Awvee Storey. It seems the Nets really want to end the year on a positive note.

“We’re going to keep playing hard,” Richard Jefferson said after scoring a game-high 24.

Here’s one positive. The Nets won’t lose 50. They have 47 losses with two games remaining.

Vince Carter had 21 points and 10 assists and Milwaukee native Devin Harris 13 points nine assists and six steals.

“We’re trying to make the most of our situation,” Harris said. “We just want to come out and be competitive.”

Just idiotic. Why are the Nets doing this? Why does this franchise continually shoot itself in the foot. The Nets could have moved up as high as 8 if they had lost this game. The Bulls won last night and the Bobcats won tonight. Pat Riley knows that the draft is the best way to improve this team. It is just amazing to me. I cant stand rooting for this franchise sometimes. I cant stand it.

*his

doesnt make sense. so i guess mo ager is not being evaluated and is in the games to help the nets win. while sean williams practically helped the nets win some of the few games theyve won this year.

there hasnt been a rookie since frank's tenure who's developed to just the normal expectations.

i mean almost every national basketball analysts whether its on espn or nba.com has this kid as a future allstar.

there is a trend with youngsters with frank. they all have regressed in time. aintoine wright was a total bust under frank even though he has excellent athletic ability, and thats a pretty good foundation to develop on. marcus has becpome worse and worse game by game even though he's blesses with skills and talent that nba players drool to have. and sean was a force in the middle of the season, and slowly with less and less playing time he has lost all confidence and poise in himslef.

frank has literally killed these kids confidence.

the way frank is acting with sean is reminiscent wiyth the way skiles acted with chandler. at least chandler got some playing time, but skiles was unable to develop him. chandler goes to the hornets with bgyron, and low and behold that same year he's a beast oon the boards and on defense and gives you at least 13 points a game at a 60% clip. frank seems to force the hand of management to trade marcus and sean away for nothing, which would be deadly moves.

whther we like it or not, when kidd was here, he was the veteran porescence and the basketball leader of the team, and filled the voiid that frank couldnt fill. now that he's gone, his fualts and mistakes are being magnified even more. and if they trade carter, who when he sits the nets cant score a single point beyond harris who can do some damage but still is developing, frank would be totally unravelled.

its obvious, the only sane reason why thorn and kiki, who must be in thorn's ears about this, woould bring back frank for next year is his huge price tag. it would be hard for a man like thorn to swallow his pride on this one. i mean how would he go to ratner and tell him i just gave frank a 9 million dollar good bye gift. but for the sake of the franchise the move almost needs to be made. i mean the latest decision on sean is just mind boggling.

anyways, frank will definitely be on a super tight leash for next year if he's back. if the nets have just a couple of showings like they did agaisnt the cavs and the raps, who are only mid level teams, at the beginning of next year, you would have to think rod is sane enough to pull the trigger and get a real head coach.

this win against milwakee doesnt mean jack crack. they played withlout yi, villanueva, williams, and redd and bogut hardly played especially when it mattered. i dont know how a win against a team that resembles a varsity team would fix up and patch up franks underachieving failure of a season. like most of his decisions, just doesnt make any seanse whatsoever.

Arghhhhhhh words just cant describe how much me and just about every other Nets fan are frustrated with Lawrence "Opie" Frank.
Really now this has Jermaine Oneil scenario written all over it.
A talented player gets drafted by a solid team, gets no PT whatsoever because of an incompitent coach (who in this case is also a brilliant polititian) and once his contract is up goes to a new team and becomes an all star just like that.
What's worse is that Frank is punishing the Williams duo for NOTHING while he remains silent when our stars (Vince and Kidd) needed some heavy decipline.
Maurice Cheeks gets his team into the playoffs without a single all star.....
Byron Scott got his team to the FINALS TWICE with 1 star and a bunch of role players....
Frank cant get his team into the playoffs with 3.....

Honestly now what's even the point of having Sean and Marcus here, there's no chance that Frank will get them to bloom into the potential stars they can be so we might as well get some veteran talent for them.

Really now it amazes me that Thorn would rather remain loyal to a terrible coach than to this team's fan's.

Another idiotic statement by an idiot coach.. and he thinks he can evaluate a player sitting on the bench? ...Playing to win? Toronto was ahead 28 with 2 mins. left.. they were playing to win by keeping his fave players in? This coach is pure idiot.

Frank only likes veteran players not rookies because veterans have experience and do not makes him look bad. With the rookies frank does not have the capacity to teach, get the best out of them and win at the same time.

this article is just Al's way of saying Frank is an idiot
