Krstic May Be Next to Go

The Nets extended a qualifying offer to Nenad Krstic today. They may be saying goodbye to him real soon.

They had until Monday to extend the QO. If he signs it, which he won’t, he’ll get $2.76 million for the upcoming season. Otherwise, the qualifying offer means the Nets can match any offers the restricted free agent gets.

After all of the pick ups yesterday – Yi Jianlian, Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson, three scoring big men, two of whom have perimeter-oriented games – I would expect Krstic to be moved via a sign-and-trade unless the Nets keep him at a reduced price.

However, despite what was an awful season coming off the knee injury, Krstic could draw some interest. He’s only 24 – will be 25 when the season starts – and could return to form. So the Nets could be faced with a decision of whether to match, work out a trade or let him go outright. I don't see the latter happening.

The Nets have other chips, though with all the young guys to use in deals. It could be an interesting July for them. Other moves have to happen.

They can’t be done, not with 13 guys under contract - provided they sign the three rookies - and eight 24 and younger. This is not a finished product by any means.

The Nets are going to introduce Lopez, Anderson and Chris Douglas-Roberts at a press conference on Monday at 10 a.m. at their facility. You guys can view the press conference live on www.njnets.com.

Naturally, the Nets jumped all over the chance to put out a new promotion after everything that happened yesterday. (I’m sure we’re going to see more sponsorships, also).

The Nets have a new ‘Buy One, Get One, See Everyone’ Season Ticket Package, which includes the opportunity to receive a free Nets jersey of Yi.

Fans who purchase one season ticket will receive another season ticket for free. This offer is available in select Lower Level and Upper Level locations. Go to www.njnets.com or call 1-800-7NJ-NETS.
Now for the fine print: this offer is available for a limited time only and restrictions apply.

Tomorrow is the 5th annual Lynch Classic 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Ramsey. The event raises money for the Tommy Evans Scholarship given out by Ramsey High School. Evans was a Navy pilot killed during training in 1977. It’s a nice event that Mike DeMarino started with huge help from the Lynch family, who hosts the fun-filled day.

There will be a DJ, raffles, food and drink. The address is 44 Upland Road. Click here to read about it.

A S&T with Nenad is inevitable with all the big's this team has right now We def' need to improve on the wing.

Also now that we're lottery bound for the next couple of season's keeping Vince here makes no sense in fact I'll go so far and say that we owe him to trade him away to at least a semi-competitive team.

How about Vince for Josh Howard+fillers.
Josh can be another great piece in our "rebuilding towards that championship level" Kiki keeps talking about, give's us more flexibility and will probably make Harris happy to be playing here with his best friend.
For Dallas a core of vince,Kidd and Dirk along with guys like Stack and Terry will make the Mavs super relevent.

I agree that Vince has to go unless they can make a big splash in free agency. But with the focus being on cap space in 2010 (what a joke) who is is really going to sign with NJ

I heard that Krstic was offered 5 million Euros to play for CSKA Moscow next season. Any truth to that?

I think the Nets should stand pat with these young guys. Make some minor moves to bring is veterans to show these guys how to be an NBA player on and off the court. Let these young guys grow together and see what happens.

let this bum go, u wanna talk soft? then were talkin nenad krstic for sure.Great shooter but thats why we brought in yi(not to mention the NBDL for his career prone ryan anderson)we really dont need this guy sign and trade for a nice defensvie gaurd, or mayb small forward this team needs to improve on toughness and letting this guy go will imrpove that category dramatically, im not a nenad hater hes very skilled but not wat this team needs

This is such a "what have you done for me lately" business. Krstic was averaging 17 and 7 and was the greatest thing since sliced only a year ago. He suffered one of the most devastating injuries in sports and now he sucks. He is a bum. He is soft. Utter garbage.

I agree with Jeff, we can't let Krstic go, this kid was too good for us. He came back too early last year because of his desire to play, and now, we're giving up on him? C'mon, he's arguably our best big man, no way should we trade him. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Who do you think the nets can get at the wing position? What are the chances they can get Mike Miller or Rashad Mccants from Minnesota, maybe even JR Smith or Travis Outlaw?

If Dallas wants Diop - and is willing to S&T for him, then that's one guy to go up front. The second guy who has to go is Swift. If you can get rid of him, then you definitely try to keep Nenad on a one year deal this year. If he's really healthy that might be good for everyone and keeps your options open as you figure out which of the kids are keepers.

No rush to get rid of the guy. He's shown he can play, and guys usually fully recover from this injury - often a year after coming back or so.

S&T Nenad? i think is a big mistake - this guy was a future all star before he got hurt and he is young... he is a proven player at his position with real skill - i say he gets back to where he was and continues to improve - last year is not indicative of his skill and we all know that so i do not c the Nets giving up on him - if anything this is the best time to lock him up and let him play this year and showcase his ability again and then trade him for much more if there is a logjam - remember Yi and Anderson are good prospects ... Nenad was doing 17 & 7 in his second year ... 1 in the hand is worth ...

remember we r not playing for next year so giving up on good assets at this point is well - Pointless!
