Carter Hurts Hamstring

Vince Carter strained his left hamstring on a second-quarter drive in today's preseason opener against the Heat in France. Carter is out for the rest of the game.

We'll know more later when we get on the conference call with coach Lawrence Frank.

In Carter's place rookie Chris Douglas-Roberts is playing well. He scored 12 consecutive points in the second after replacing Carter and has scored two quick buckets, including one on a fastbreak slam after a steal, early in the third. Douglas-Roberts has three steals to this point.

The Nets started Carter, Devin Harris, Sean Williams, Ryan Anderson and Bobby Simmons. To this point, first-round pick Brook Lopez and Yi Jianlian hasn't played yet. There's about eight minutes left in the third with the Nets down 55-53.

Out for the Nets were Eduardo Najera, who re-aggravated his left wrist in practice yesterday, Jarvis Hayes (hamstring) and Keyon Dooling (sprained left ankle).

We played well and Vince returned to the court even though he didnt play, I doubt this injury is severe.
Anyway man Nets played really really well, CDR and Devin just completley took over the game.

Devin was amazing.

CDR was outstanding (Especially for his first game).

Anderson was a nice surprise.

Sean with the monster blocks.

Boone showed hustle.

Gill was a VERY nice surprise.

But 1 question......WHY DIDNT OUR BEST DRAFT PICK PLAY?
Seriously Frank better not screw another one of our rookies.

I agree! CDR looked NBA ready. He had a complete game. Great defense, a few steals, a few nice boards and scored at will. Sean looked hesitant to me. You could tell Devin and Vince weren't trying all to hard which is pretty amazing conisdering they still played great. I suspect that Yi and Lopez didn't play because Frank wants to start them Sunday ,or at least get them some quality playing time, and compare who does better. Williams and Anderson or Yi and Lopez . I bet Frank wants to see who plays better with each unit. Figure Yi gets it over Anderson and Lopez over Williams. That's my guess.

Lopez hurt his leg. Relax.

Hey Adam,

We spoke to Lawrence Frank via conference call and he told us he wanted to sit Yi and Brook and give them more of a look on Sunday. Two other guys will sit as a result.

I think we all can agree the Nets have too many bigs - seven power forwards/centers - and not all of them can play. So this, Frank said, is the best way to evaluate them.

They could be showcasing someone because they probably have to trade one of them.
